  • Looks really nice from what I can see in IE5.

    The site appears to be working just fine in IE7, which makes that blaring pink banner at the top of the site quite annoying.

    Looks nice, until I change the text size.

    @jwurster – Thanks!

    @msadventures – Yeah, it might work fine in IE, but I never know. I don’t use IE and haven’t even started it in years. I do all my coding to standards and refuse to include any IE side-tricks. So I put the banner there as a warning. My previous theme looked like shit in IE!

    @evita – Thanks, I don’t really expect people to increase the fonts… I’m just not that concerned about it. 🙂

    I don’t really expect people to increase the fonts.

    You should, unless you don’t want them to read it 🙂

    Also, the white links in the text are almost illegible (tested in FF and Opera).

    “I don’t really expect people to increase the fonts”

    Oh, I understand. You made this website for your browser and your eyes.

    If you insist on using a serif font, then the text needs to be bigger. It’s too small to be comfortable, which makes me (and, I’m assuming, most people) not want to bother reading it at all.

    Either user a sans serif font and keep it small, or increase the default size.

    Other than that, it’s not bad.

    I would like to see waaaaaaaaay more whitespace beside the posts. A bit of padding in content would help. Plus a harsh black font doesn’t sit well with the bright background. A bit of tweaking and that could be very nice. IMHO.

    I don’t like this:

    would advise you to begin using a real browser

    Whilst I understand that you wish to be standards compliant, can I suggest that you have a look at your stats and see just what percentage of users are still using IE6/5?

    Some of us (while surfing from say, work) are stuck with IE. I suggest that you either bite the bullet and put some IE hacks in or kiss goodbye to anyone stuck with IE6 for whatever reason. Certainly I won’t be back (although that’s probably no great loss to you ;] )

    For the record by the way, in IE6 the content drops below the sidebar.

    I feel your pain. I am one of those “stuck with ie at work” people.

    Debating with folks that wont design with ie in mind is a lost cause though.

    I agree with all the previous posts; while I think it looks original it also lacks readability, and honestly, the colors are terrible. I had a purple and orange blog once, Im open to colors that just dont work too.

    Not to mention, this:

    Failed validation, 46 errors

    Im a stickler for validating.

    theres also an error in your style.css.

    I agree with the two folks above. If you want your site to be read/viewed, you need to create a design that is user friendly for everyone. You never know what kind of circumstances are affecting people’s web using experience, and to so blatantly show that you don’t care whether they can easily see your site is a great way to guarantee people won’t return.

    I’m not going to sugar coat this. I don’t like it at all, the colors, the style, the images, the fonts, the markup… everything.

    It might be original but is it original for the right reasons or the wrong reasons?

    this is exactly why this forum is a waste of time. If you didnt want to hear ppl be honest about what they thought, why ask?

    Having a fit when you dont hear what you want ought to push you to improve, not to bash anyone here for merely being honest.

    I notice you havent really taken any time to fix the ERRORS I pointed out previously. Go figure.

    and lastly,

    <meta name="generator" content="WordPress 2.0.2" /> <!-- leave this for stats -->

    Your site is begging to be rooted. Spend some time and upgrade it lest someone who doesnt like your attitude decides to teach you a lesson.

    I’m sorry I have a life and job and can’t just sit on here bashing people all day and making empty threats.

    I hope you don’t work in web design…
