Completed donation in LIVE mode sitting as pending

    Hi! I have a giving site for my dog rescue here – http://give.dogswithoutborders.org/campaigns/
    I used my personal PayPal account to make a $1 donation to the campaign that’s live and confirmed that it was completed on the receiving end.

    I was properly redirected to the receipt page as a donor, and I have a PayPal receipt in my email, however the donation is sitting as “pending” in the admin.

    What do I need to do to make sure that it changes the status to PAID upon receipt? (note: I have a secondary donation page that uses the Paypal IPN url so I hope it doesn’t rely on that stupid IPN setting changing!

    In PayPal, has the donation been marked off as paid?

    Charitable does rely on the IPN to update the status of payments. If you log into PayPal and go to Profile > Profile and Settings > Selling Tools and click Update for Instant Payment Notifications, what are the settings you see (after clicking Choose IPN Settings)?

    Hello Eric,

    Yes the donation was completed successfully through PayPal. I verified it on both the sending and receiving accounts.

    The IPN settings are set up for my regular donation site and I can’t change them or that site will fail completely.

    It would be terribly useful to have an option to configure the plugin to use a secondary method (eg notify_url to set transactional notifications rather than relying on the IPN hard setting — see: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2865970/notify-url-of-paypal)

    Hi codebloo,

    Charitable does use the notify_url parameter. In your Instant Payment Notification (IPN) history, can you see which URL the IPN was sent to for this donation?

    ARG! Someone else on staff turned off IPN notifications. Sorry! User error 🙁
    I ran a new test and it works correctly, hooray! Thank you for a terrific plugin!
