  • This plugin is almost complete garbage. It’s been a nightmare making galleries with lots of photos AND the galleries are not compatible with mainstream browsers like Firefox and Opera. Also there’s zero backend access to the media files you upload to the Picu galleries. You have to use an ftp to find where the photos even are. Clients have also been saying they can’t send in selections because the gallery hangs and pauses. Why would I pay a penny if the free version doesn’t even work properly?

    Let me try to answer your questions.

    1. Not sure what you mean by “it’s been a nightmare making galleries with lots of photos”, we have many photographers using picu with hundreds and sometimes even thousands of photos. Would love to get more details what exactly didn’t work for you.

    2. dito. There should be no problems at all with FireFox and/or Opera, if you experience otherwise, please send a support request with more details (either in the support forums here or via email) and we’re happy to take a look into it.

    3. Backend access: we use the WP image uploader and this is the default behavior. We see no reason to change this at the moment, but would be interested to hear the reasons why you need direct file access via wp-admin instead of FTP.

    4. Collection hangs/pauses: again, this shouldn’t be the case (of course) and would make for a perfect support request instead of a 1-star review 😉 – please contact us with some more details via email or in the support forums here and we’re glad to help.

    5. picu works like a charm for more than 1000 photographers. Of course, there’s always things that can break in certain situations or incompatibilities with other plugins/themes/hosts etc. If this happens it’s usually best to contact us and we love to find out what’s causing it. As far as I can tell, we never received any support requests from you, which would have given us a chance to help.

    That being said, we look forward to hear from you, I’m sure we can find a solution and maybe change your mind.
