No, I don’t get any error message. I just don’t see the featured content grid / slider (example: http://twentyfourteendemo.wordpress.com)
After deactivating Jetpack, it worked fine. Activated jetpack again and the slider disappeared.

Could you try to update to the development version of Jetpack available here, and let me know if it helps? We’ve made a small improvement to the Featured Content module and that could solve the problem on your site.

Now it gets complicated…
At first, it worked. Then I changed the respective featured image of my featured post and the slider was not displayed again. I had to deactivate / visit the home page / activate jetpack again to make it work again.
I could reproduce this error with second exchange of the featured image.
By the way, I have Photon activated.
Thanks for bearing with me. I was able to reproduce the problem on a test site of mine. We’ll take a look and get this fixed. I’ll post again here as soon as I have some news.

I have to disable and enable again for the featured posts to show up.
same problem here… i’ve tried disable every function in Jetpack but the featured posts were still invisible… the glitch is that it doesn’t hide the featured posts, instead it seems like Jetpack has some kind of disabled the “featured post feature”… the featured posts were listed as usual – as if they’re not featured posts…

Same problem–identical to Nick it seems–no Featured Slider with Jet Pack activated in Twenty Fourteen. http://ThePaintersTongue.com, but I currently have Jet Pack deactivated.

just made a new site with 2014 theme and hit this same issue
Any updates on this issue? Few sections of my site are showing up basically blank because of this. Seems the only option now is to have the Jetpack plugin disabled until the issue is fixed.
