We have a WordPress site that is on a Windows server. I tried installing the plugin and activating and it crashed my site and I had to deactivate through the back-end. Is this plugin compatible with installations on Windows and IIS?

    Hi,

Really Simple SSL should work fine with Windows server and IIS. What issues did you experience exactly when the plugin was activated? Your https:// domain currently shows an IIS7 welcome page. It’s possible the server has two different folders, one for the http:// and one for the https:// domain. Creating a symbolic link between the two should solve that issue.

Thanks, Mark. It was hard to troubleshoot this as the production site went so we had to get it back up as soon as possible. There isn’t a second folder on the site for this but it is odd that the https version is giving the Welcome page rather than the ‘Your Site is Not Secure’ message.

The way the plugin should work is if there is an SSL site somewhere out there, the plugin should find it and apply it automatically and make it work. Are there any other potential updates I would need to get this to work in IIS other than the symbolic link suggestion you mentioned?

    Hi,

the issue is caused by a setting in IIS. The https:// domain should point to the same folder as the http:// domain. Currently the https:// domain points to an IIS welcome page. You’d have to check the server configuration to find out why it’s not working correctly. Also see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/iis/manage/configuring-security/how-to-set-up-ssl-on-iis

Thanks again. We will work through this and probably get an SSL for our dev site so we can properly test this. I will close this for now
