Compatibility with The Events Calendar Category Colors 3.4.2 Plugin

Hello Events Calendar Team:

I’ve been asked to assist with a WordPress site that is running version 3.8.1 with Swagger Theme.

They have the following calendar plugins installed:
The Events Calendar 3.4.1
The Events Calendar Pro 2.0.11

We are about to upgrade our Events Calendar Pro yearly subscription to the latest version.

The end goal we are trying to achieve is to color code our events based on location (category). I found another plugin called The Events Calendar Category Colors plugin (version 3.4.2) that seems to provide the functionality we want.

Do you have any “best practices” suggestions on how we can get this plugin to run optimally with TEC and ECP? What versions should we be on? Are there any other pitfalls we should try to avoid or be aware of?

I already visited the Forum for Events Calendar Category Colors and Andy told me that he doesn’t think ECP 2.0.11 will work with the current version of TEC. In fact, he said, it may cause issues. He also said everyone should be running the latest version of TEC. He isn’t sure how mixing versions of TEC and ECP works, but he thinks it’s likely to cause issues. He says the Category Colors plugin works with or without ECP, and that I’d have to get the data regarding what versions of TEC and ECP that are currently in use from Modern Tribe.
