    Hi,

I was using Podcast Player on my site for quite a long time now. I recently had to upgrade to PHP 8.1 – the page on which I was using the Podcast Player crashed and WordPress was just showing a screenshot of that page with a “fatal error”. I had to deactivate the plugin – and everything went back to normal. Is your plugin not compatible with PHP 8.1?

    Best Regards,

    Michael

    Hi there,

Thanks for using podcast player on your website.

I just checked podcast player on a test environment with PHP 8.1.9 and it seems to be working just fine. Can you please inform is there anything mentioned in the fatal error message? Can you provide a screenshot of the error message? I will check and try to identify the exact issue.

Inform me for any more explanation on the above.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

as soon as I inject the shortcode for using the podcast player, the page will no longer show up, but a partial screenshot of page is displayed telling me in German “There was a critical error on your website. Learn more about handling problems with WordPress” and a link to https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/faq-troubleshooting/.

    Hi there,

I tried to display podcast player using shortcode. However, there was no error observed on the page. I created a screencast video of this. You can check this on https://www.dropbox.com/s/4ylls5wj449x3tu/podcasttest.mp4?dl=0

Can you inform what exact shortcode you are using? Also, it could be possible that some other plugin is having PHP issue which only activate when podcast player is activated. Can you try to disable some other susceptible plugin and test?

If the above did not resolve the issue, you can contact me on contact@vedathemes.com as we are not allowed to ask for backend access on this forum. Since the issue is site specific and I might need backend access to identify the issue.

Inform me for more help or explanation on the above.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

I am sorry but I can and will not give you access to our backend.

Thanks for the video. It’s PHP version 8.1 (and not 8.19) running on our site. Does this make any difference? I already tested to disable other plugins – but I could not find any candidate.

Thank you very much for your help so far. I will keep on investigating and will give you an update as soon as I found a solution.

    Best Regards,

    Michael

    Hi there,

No problems. I can understand about the backend access, we can try something else ( the only thing is we have to do some hit and trials to get the exact issue). About PHP version, 8.1.9 is released after 8.1. It could be possible there might be some bug in 8.1 which later gets resolved in 8.1.9. However, I cannot say for sure.

we can try “query monitor” plugin. Perhaps it can show what exact error was encountered. Once we know the error, we can solve it.

    Thanks for your patience.
