Hello 🙂
I have a few things to do (I am on fire! :p) but this is something important and I would like it to work. I am actually an user of Manual Image Crop and it was not working for me. So I have decided at that time to fork it. Please check this:

You can see I have the plugin available on GitHub as well (https://github.com/jordymeow/wp-manual-image-crop/archive/master.zip). I think the developer added the change I proposed but I am not sure it works 100%. Can you try my version of his plugin?
Sorry, I am just giving you some work instead of trying myself 🙂
Hi Jordy,
Your patched version of Manual Image Crop doesn’t work with the current version of WordPress (4.3.1). In any case, he accepted your pull request in May.
I’m putting together a site of family photos, and some of the thumbnails need to be manually cropped because people are getting cut off. When I use the stock WP picture editor, the generated 2x thumbnail gets deleted and not replaced. With Manual Image Crop, the auto generated thumbnail remains, but the properly cropped 2x thumbnail doesn’t get written out. FWIW, I’m using 250 x 250 px thumbnails, and the originals are huge – a little over 3000 x 4000 px.
Any suggestions or work arounds? I’d be happy to use the stock photo editor if there was a trick to making sure the retina images got updated.

Hi Jordy,
Thanks for your help with this – I indeed agree that Manual Image Crop is a great tool in conjunction with Retina!
Sorry about my slow response, but I just had to re-install my whole site due to a SPAM attack last week, and so I’ve only just got around to testing this now.
Unfortunately I don’t even get to open the cropping tool now, but instead I get the following message:
Fatal error: Class ‘MicSettingsPage’ not found in /home/www/lilykamper.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-manual-image-crop-master/lib/ManualImageCropEditorWindow.php on line 27
Any ideas why that might be?
Thanks,
Jonas
Hello guys,
I have tried again on my side, with the latest version of everything. I cropped the image with Manual Image Crop but the retina didn’t get updated at all 🙁
Then I tried to go in the Retina Dashboard and to click on GENERATE to force the re-generation of those images. And it worked, the retina size was properly re-created with the proper crop.
Can you try that on your side to make sure my plugin process works fine?
Then we can ask the developer of Manual Image Crop to add an action on this side so that I can hook on his plugin when he needs to generate the retina image and to handle it myself, I guess it would be better.
Hi Jordy,
Yes, thanks, that works on my site also. I’m seeing the retina thumbnail with the proper crop after manually generating it.

Okay, so there is a problem with Manual Image Crop. Can you tell the developer about this? You can also mention that it would be great if he could add an action so that I could generate the retina files after the images have been cropped by his plugin? Maybe he can come here to this thread and we can talk about it together 🙂
