Does that plugin perform a match between the entered company name and the one that appears at VIES website? What happens if they don’t match (i.e. someone enters a random but valid VAT number to avoid paying VAT)?

    Hi,

Presumably you’re referring to the Premium version, which validates B2B VAT numbers. There’s no verifying of the company name, because i) anyone can look up the company name at VIES, so it’s no protection against fraud, and ii) it’d cause a lot of checkout abandondment or support, due to non-exact matches, mis-spellings, etc.

    Hi,

It’s not so much about what you’ve mentioned David… the thing is that plugin should verify or just pull out from vies EU VAT number + company name + company address… why? As a company owner I need to pay tax for purchases from invalid companies. Currently some user could enter valid EU VAT number and own company details – I wouldn’t know it until it was already too late.

So it would be best option, if a plugin would simply pull out company name and address via EU VAT number.

    Kind regards

    Hi @ninostar78,

This exists as a feature of the paid version, which does record the customer’s address associated with the entered VAT number, as returned by VIES: https://www.simbahosting.co.uk/s3/product/woocommerce-eu-vat-compliance/

    Best wishes,
    David

Do you have online demo so I can try it out (frontend)?

You will see the experience of entering your VAT number at the checkout for the product linked above. (You can’t see what’s recorded from VIES when the number is looked up, as that’s on the back-end).

For any further queries, please use the form at http://www.simbahosting.co.uk – wordpress.org’s forum rules consider questions about commercial purchases to be off-topic, so I won’t be able to say any more here.
