Support » Themes and Templates » Comments.php to run in sidebar or right of post?

  • Hi, I’m interesting in getting my comments module (on individual posts) away from the bottom of my website, and run it side by side with the article itself. That way, you can post a new comment as you are reading the original piece, and see what other people are saying as the post is read.

    Perishable press does something like this (ex: http://perishablepress.com/tale-of-a-hacked-website/ ) but I couldn’t figure out how to mimic that. I was told something like

    .content { float: left; width: 45%; }
    .comments { float: right; width: 45%; }

    but I’m not sure where to put that in, and when I did something, it ended up being each one half size, but still with comments underneath the post, not alongside.

    I tried CommentPress and Digress.it plugins as well, but those are for totally different purposes and did not seem to work with my theme anyway.

    I’d be fine running it either entirely in the sidebar at the expense of other widgets, or getting ride of the sidebar to run the comments sidebyside.

    This seems like a pretty uncommon thing to do, but it’d be a major help if someone could help me figure out how to work it. Thanks!
