# Comments: WordPress database error

 * Right now, I have two blogs: [plainbeta](http://plainbeta.com/) and [brian.purkiss:blog](http://brianpurkiss.net/blog/).(
   I just recently started the second one)
 * I just recently started getting an error on my single post pages and on the sidebar
   with the comments.
 * > WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the 
   > manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to
   > use near ‘select comment_author_email from wp_comments where comment_ID =]
   > 
   > select count(*) as comments from wp_comments where comment_author_email = (
   > select comment_author_email from wp_comments where comment_ID = 176)
 * I have had <u>plainbeta</u> for a while, and have never had this problem before.
   
   I am operating with the latest version of WordPress, using 1and1.com hosting,
   and running MySQL 4.0. Furthermore, my theme is a well designed theme by [Small Potato of WPdesigner.com](http://www.wpdesigner.com/)–
   so I doubt it’s the theme.

 * Whatever you are using to display the recent comments… it’s either not compatible
   with your WP version or has a faulty code.

 * No, because I don’t know your versions and I don’t know what are you using to
   display the recent comments…
    If you don’t provide details why are you expecting
   any meaningful answer?
