Support » Fixing WordPress » Comments Problems – Says “no comments” when there are comments

  • Hi there-
I posted awhile back on this and never got it resolved so i’m desperately trying again.

I use WP 2.6 on Firefox with Connections Theme.

I recently imported my old blog over. The problem is with all the imported posts – any new posts since then are fine.

Each imported post says ‘no comments’ even though that when you click on each post (single.php?) and scroll down you can see there ARE comments. So I guess it’s some disconnect w/ the ‘comments’ ‘no comments’ and ‘number of comments’ codes.

Is something not quite right in the underlying SQL database??

Here’s an example of a ‘pre-import’ post with the problem:
    http://www.llworldtour.com/2007/11/01/locked-out/

At the top it doesn’t say how many comments and at the bottom it says NO RESPONSES, but then lists all the comments.

I would SO appreciate any and all help.
    Thank you!
    Lisa

    Could be a theme issue.

If you temporarily switch to a default theme are the counts displayed properly?

Yeah, I’ve tried the default theme and still have same problem.
    Any other ideas?
    Thank!

Anyone out there that maybe can help me? Problem is still unresolved…
    I’m getting lonely out here.

I’m trying to solve this one now too! Comments are showing up on a page with just one post, but not on any pages or a page with multiple posts.

    umm, thats normal.

comments are shown on single post pages (those are called permalinks pages)

Really? But there is no link that says “2 comments”…that definitely showed up when I had my hosted blog:

    http://www.clearspringanalysis.wordpress.com

but not showing up now that i am self-hosting:

    http://www.bridging-the-gap.com

Also, comments boxes are not showing up on pages, like the About page.

    Really?

No, im lieing. sigh. yes, really. 😛

The link to the comments (“2 comments”, etc..) is theme dependant. The comment box for pages.. theme dependant

switch to the default theme and see if everything is as you expect.

If its not, then there’s another issue. If it is, its a theme issue.

That gave me the right links on the main post pages but still no comments boxes on the pages like “about.

And I have checked to make sure comments are activated on those pages!

see the first thread. that’s applicable to the default theme, as well.

Woot! That worked. Thanks so much!

Just to finish out the thread:
    I added <?php comments_template(); ?> to the page.php template.
