Hi there. I have both the Capabilities and Permissions plugin activated.

Administrators can view all existing and pending comments, but for the Editors, this Comments page comes up empty.

I noticed that deactivating the Permissions plugin, will make the Comments visible to Editors.

In the Permissions plugin, we’ve placed Editors in these custom role groups which have specific permissions to apply a category to a post and edit them.

But when I go to edit these roles, in the Set Specific Permissions tab, I can’t find anything to do with viewing and editing comments. Where can I set permissions involving comments? I’ve already made sure the “moderate comments” capability is ticked for Editors in the Capabilities plugin.

    Thanks,
    Jay

    Hi @jayahn4

    Thanks for using PublishPress Permissions.

In the Permissions plugin, we’ve placed Editors in these custom role groups which have specific permissions to apply a category to a post and edit them.

Could you please screenshot your configuration please?

    Thanks,

Sure thing. The first screenshot contains the custom groups, and the second screenshot is in one of those groups.

Hi there. Any luck on finding a way to toggle comments on for the above config? I’d like to let our client know whether it’s possible or not.

@jayahn4 Sorry, I have no luck reproducing the issue. I have PublishPress Capabilities and Permissions with the same configuration as yours, and my editor role can access the comments and see all comments.

Since you mentioned the issue disappear if you deactivate PublishPress Permissions, can you please try uncheck the module here? Does it also resolve the issue?

    No luck with that Riza.

I’ve also tested by deleting one of the Custom Roles called State Editor (NSW). A user with the Editor role who was in this Custom Role, now has no custom role, but is still unable to see comments as long as the plugin is active. This seems to suggest to me that Permissions Pro is doing something with the default Editor WordPress role.

@jayahn4 Since you mentioned that you’re using Permissions Pro, submitting a ticket directly through our support system would expedite communication and streamline the investigation process. Could you please open a ticket at the following link: https://publishpress.com/new-support-ticket/?

Thanks for the suggestion Riza. I’ll be contacting the premium support with the client’s account.

    Hi again Riza,

I attempted to open a new support ticket, but I’m constantly being directed to log in and thus can never open a new support ticket.

So I instead clicked the option for support for non-members, and it directs to these forums. Would you please open a new ticket since we seem to be unable to?

    Thanks,
    Jay

    Hi Riza,

Thanks for taking initiative there, but would it be possible if we communicate with my own email? (jay@jaladesign.com.au). That email belonged to a former member of the client company, and is actually no longer active or accessible.

Once we communicate with my email, I can also send you a link to a staging copy of the site that has the same settings.

    Cheers,
    Jay

@jayahn4 We resolved this issue in the ticket. I will close this thread.

In case in the future someone face this issue, it resolved by adding this constant in wp-config.php

    define(‘PP_NO_COMMENT_FILTERING’, true);

    Thanks,
