check under “settings” in your admin panel and go to “discussion” and look under
for
Allow people to post comments on new articles
Look to see if it is checked…
Thank you for answering! It is checked, should I unckeck it?
No don’t uncheck it. If I understand you correctly you want visitors to have the ability to comment right?
If that is the case don’t uncheck that box.
Go back to “discussion” and look for the box
Automatically close comments on articles older than __ days
Is that checked?
It was checked, with 14 days! (Read the options, Josée, read the options!!!)
So I guess uncheking that will leave the possibility to discuss my posts available, until I decide otherwise for each post?
Thank you very much for your help!!!
You can manually decide which posts you want to allow comments for when you create new posts, it will be under the “discussion” widget.
Click “add new” under posts and scroll down until you see the “discussion” widget and look for “Allow comments” it should, by default, be checked. If you do not want comments on certain posts, simply uncheck the box.
Good luck!

I am fairly new to WordPress, but having a blast with it. I would like to have comments always open on my posts, unless I choose to close them.
But right now, the comments are open on my posts only for a short time after I publish a post. I cannot seem to find where to adjust the settings so they are always open.
Could anyone help me out with this please?
Thank you
