    Hi,
I have been getting a lot comments which are basically a spam type comments made by people around the world, mostly it is people who have websites with something to sell and I assume if I approve them I will give them a link back to their website with no link going to my site. Is their any advantages in approving them as comments or should I just keep deleting them as spam ?
    Any suggestions ?
    Thanks,
    montaya

You should have a spam blocker installed so they go to spam immediately. I would start with Akismet and see how it goes.

And don’t approve them as comments.

Thanks for that, but I do have Akismet installed and activated, they do get past Akismet, maybe I need to reconfig it.
Most of the comments seem harmless, but I will leave them unapproved or deleted.

If you can unapprove or delete, then it sounds like you’re looking at them in the spam folder.

Regardless, check your Akismet stats from admin. It should block an overwhelming percentage of spam by default.

    It’s … spam.
