Comments link not showing up in archive posts?!?!

I copied the code from the index.php file in my theme directory and put it into the single.php file. Everything showed up right, but when you click the archive link at the top and then click the thumbnail – everything but the comments link that should be there shows up.

Anybody have any advice?
