Comments in linked articles.

  • Hi.
I have recently came across very unusual and weird feature and thus I am not sure whether I get it right.

Quite complicated, so I will present it on an example. Writing post A, I give a link to post B. Just after publishing A, something weird appears in B’s comment section. It is a comment containing a paragraph from A. Why? What for? How to switch it off? Example: http://dhost.info/arsud/wordpress/?p=49#comment-10

    Thanks.
    R.

  • Turn off ping from links in posts. Glad to hear pings are working for you, but I thought WP no longer pinged posts in the same site (could be wrong). The why is that it is a feature notifying other sites that you have made a post concerning theirs.

The comment is a pingback. It is a currently recognized flaw that pingbacks to posts on the same blog look as they do (that is to say, include a lot of unrelated data). Hopefully a forthcoming release should fix that.

Now if I could only figure out how to get, what you describe as a flaw, to work on my site so I’d know pingbacks were working again. 😉

Thanks guys. Now I get it 🙂
