    Hi –

Thanks for writing to us. Are comments enabled for pages?

Try testing this yourself by leaving a comment on the post and seeing where it shows up. We don’t have an account to the HOA, so let me know what happens when you leave that comment.

Correct, I can see the comment with out signing in. But I’m not able to test the comment field for this post with out an account based on the membership requirement.

What happens if you leave a new comment on https://cardinalglen.org/in-our-front-yard-just-now/

The comment showing on the neighborhood info page was left on that page specifically. See here: https://cloudup.com/cHR9nbg6mPn

    One Thought On “Neighborhood Info”

That text would read differently if left on the post. It would say:

One Thought On “In our front yard just now”

no, it _was_ left on https://cardinalglen.org/in-our-front-yard-just-now/

as can be seen in the form:
    <input name=”comment_post_ID” value=”2589″ id=”comment_post_ID” type=”hidden”>

    but erroneously appears on https://cardinalglen.org/neighborhood-info/

i have just poked the correct id into the wp_comments table, & a previous comment does appear under that post (altho comment count remains at 0)

if u would like to try it out, i can give u a temp.login, just pm me

Does the comment count catch up to reflect the newest one if you clear the browser cache on your computer?

Also, I am looking in to the post ID now.

    So, let’s try this.

    1. disable every plugin on the site.
    2. sign out from your WordPress.com user account.
    3. clear your browser cache.
    4. sign back in to your WordPress.com user account.
    5. re install the Jetpack plugin.
    6. leave test comments on that post, see where they go and what happens.

If the test comments work correctly and as expected with only the Jetpack plugin enabled that means that there’s some conflict(s) going on. The next step would be for you to re enable one plugin at a time, create test comments, and see which plugin is running interference.

i just tested comments with no plugins enabled, works as expected:

    Hi there,

with only jetpack enabled (&reconnected), comment on http://cardinalglen.org/in-our-front-yard-just-now/ goes to http://cardinalglen.org/neighborhood-info/

Hmm, that’s odd, it might me a bug from our end, but we’ll need to investigate it further and try replicating the issue. Would you be okay to grant us access to the site so we can have a closer look at it? If so, could you contact us via this contact form and mention this thread?

We’ll be very happy to dig on that to solve this mystery!

something is really hosed: i’ve disabled comments on all pages, enabled on recent posts (but unchecked Allow people to post comments on new articles)
    then logged in & commented:

You are commenting using your Cardinal Glen of Sterling HOA account.

    but then i get

Sorry, comments are closed for this item.

i think i’ll just turn off all comments…

Closing as the user contacted us through the private support email 🙂
