Support » Fixing WordPress » Comments Disappeared, Backup Failing

  • Starting a couple of days ago, the comments from my blog disappeared. I’ve been running the site for the past 5 years and have never experienced anything like this.

I have not modified code or even been in the dashboard recently other than to post new photos.

I’m using WP 2.02 with Kubrick and a variety of plugins.

If I attempt to post a comment, it will show up as “anonymous” and the comment says “at” – nothing else. Then if I refresh, the comment is gone.

Additionally, I’ve tried doing backups with the “WordPress Backup Database” plugin. It stops after 4% but if I hit “back” in the browser, it will complete. I’m not sure if this is a similar issue or a separate one.

    Could mySQL have a problem?

My last complete backup was in February. Obviously I’ll be bummed to lose the past three months of posts, but am I correct in saying that the backup created then would have all my comments from the past few years? (to be used only in an emergency).

Please let me know if I have not provided enough information or if I can follow up with any more info to help those of you who may offer help.
