• I have created a ‘Contact Us’ form without any plug-ins or the use of a unique ‘one use only’ template file which does data validation on both the front and back end, e-mails the “info” e-mail address successfully and even writes an entry to wp_comments successfully.

However, I cannot find any documentation which indicates exactly what or how to write to the database so that it would properly appear as a “new comment” flag on the Admin Dashboard. I can successfully get that flag to appear but only as a comment which attaches as a reply to the original “Hello World” message a fresh install does.

Can someone point me in the right direction for this? I do not want to write a page simply to read and manage the comments database for “Contact Us” form completions as that seems a lot of effort for little return.

Forgive me if I missed something simple – my first login as an admin to WordPress was less than three weeks ago so I am on a rather high trajectory learning curve as it is now having done very little PHP or Javascript coding prior to these past few days.

FYI – The page I created is currently located at http://www.emsroaddocsil.com/cu_test_iframe/ if anyone wants to give it a spin and offer some comments. It will likely get moved once its been tested and approved for public consumption.
