# Comments closing without action

 * At seemingly random intervals, all comments on my blog are closing. I have just
   upgraded to 2.8.2, but have usually used the latest version. The problem seemed
   to arise after 2.5 or so. I have not checked the “Automatically close comments
   on articles” option.
 * Plugins active: Akismet; FeedBurner FeedSmith; and WordPress Database Backup.
 * It also resets the settings>discussion to different options without action by
   me, including checking the previously unchecked “Users must be registered and
   logged in to comment” and “An administrator must always approve the comment”
 * Temporary solution to fix it is to run a query in mySQL to open up all comments
   and then uncheck the “must be registered” and “approve the comment” option in
   the WP dashboard.
 * But I’m getting really frustrated by having to monitor this and fix it manually
   every so often. Any one knows what causes this? Could it be Akismet?

 * try deactivating all your plugins one by one. I dont think any plugin can be 
   responsible for this, but just a try..
