After you turned “Discussion” on in the Screen Options, did you also check the box saying “Allow comments” below the page content?

    Cheers, Christian

I did not! It’s working now.

That seems like a valuable UI improvement potentially. Are both those checkboxes required for comments to happen? To me at least, they each look like they independently would allow comments. I.e. had I seen the checkbox at the bottom first, I for sure would have thought that by turning it on, I’d be allowing comments on the page.

    Thanks!

The “Discussion” checkbox in “Screen Options” affects the visibility of the “Discussion” block/module on all Edit Page screens. The “Allow comments” checkbox determines the setting for the actual page being edited.

    Glad it’s working!

My theme is Avada. Their technical support has checked this issue thoroughly and seem to think it’s a WordPress issue. All of the settings to show comments are correct but all posts show “comments closed”. They even switched to the standard theme and got the same error so they don’t feel that it is an Avada issue.

@checmark Your comment is not to do with the CommentPress Core plugin. Please open an issue in the relevant section of the forum. Thanks!

    Avada told me it was.
