    Hi guys,
i upgrade my wordpress 2.0.4 to 2.0.6 and during installation an error occured. I wasn’t interested in it, but now im 🙁 I Remember it was something with database.

After i upgrade, everything works fine. But than i realized
that comments are not working. It seems that upgrade process and that error destroyed my wp_comments table.Im not sure.

    It gives an error.
    http://pastebin.com/863475

If there is no help to rescue comments, it is possible to change the table name with comments inside wordpress? From wp_comments to wp_comments2 or so?

You can try to comment here and see that error:
    http://mediablog.christ-net.sk

Even mail come to my box, everytime sb tries to comment
    Please help me

  • I would not change the table name.

I’m wondering what happened during the upgrade process, and whether you can repair the table (with phpmyadmin or something similar). It appears that WP is following the instruction to allow comments, but is not displaying comments.

Have you included, in your theme, the coding required to display comments? Part of it is this:

    <?php comment_text() ?>

Unfortunately, I’m out of suggestions; hopefully someone else will respond.

    Thanx for respond.

I use default theme. So i suppose there should not be a problem..

I run phpMyAdmin and i test the table and now MySql
    says:
Table ‘./mediablog/wp_comments’ is marked as crashed and should be repaired

Is there a way to repair it?

On the page you’re looking at, check the box to teh left of the line showing that error. There should be a drop down menu towards the bottom of the page with the repair option.

I did repair through SQL query:

    REPAIR TABLE wp_comments

    But now it gives error:
    MySql has gone away.

Im going to drop the table and install a new one..

Do u have any idea to do it safety?

IIRC, should be DROP TABLE wp_comments

Before you do it though, I would bring it to your hosts attention as it may be an issue elsewhere.

edit: Just for reference, you may want to try getting around that error and try again.
