I may or may not have the same problem..not sure, what I do know is that
for some reason my posts indicate comments closed…all the while I have checked the comments box to allow comments for my posts.. have refreshed numerous times and still the comments on the post display comments closed.. why is that and how to open up the comments dialog box..
OK, now it is clear. Can you check if you have the setting to close after a certain period/ number of days?

have you tried to temporarily deactivate all plugins, and then tested again?
do you refer to the comments in the dashboard?
do the (approved) comments show in the front in the single post or page?
I am referring to the comments are not showing on the post it made comment on.
The comments does not show at all.
I did deactivated the plugins and the comments appeared now!
I discovered the issue. It was a setting in a plugin. Thanks for your help alchymyth. Issue resolved.

I looked all over the forum for a solution to my problem.
If I posted from a test account as any user but admin I will not see my own comment or anybody comments.
If I switched the account to admin, I will be able to see the comment.
I had tested approving the comment and disabling the entire validation process. Still this strange problem is not going away.
Also I switched themes and it did not do the trick.
Any suggestions please?
