    Hi,
Twice this week my comments didn’t work. I deactivated once and it worked on reactivation. Today it did not. And it kept asking me to link to wordpress.com – and the comments didn’t work after I did this.

I deactivated and put up a simple comment system for the moment. But I like the stats of JetPress. I can’t use them now.

Why do I have to link to my other .com account to do this. What if I didn’t have a .com account? And when I comment on anyone using WordPress.com it won’t let me comment using my wordpress.org account just my .com one.

    Thanks,
    Janis

Jetpack Comments and the other Jetpack modules will only work once you link Jetpack to your WordPress.com account. This allows you to use some of the WordPress.com resources on your site.

You don’t have to use all the Jetpack modules though; if you want to use Stats, but not Jetpack Comments, you can follow the instructions here to learn how to disable only the Comments module:
    http://jetpack.me/support/#turn-off-jetpack-modules

And when I comment on anyone using WordPress.com it won’t let me comment using my wordpress.org account just my .com one.

Your WordPress.org account credentials will only work when trying to log in to your own site. No other site has any information about your personal site credentials; that’s why you can’t log in to WordPress.com using these personal site credentials.

    I hope this helps.

But it is when I link to Jetpack that the comment section stops working. It has an error message when anyone tries to comment.

Could you let me know what that error message is?

Could you also try to deactivate all other Anti Spam, Captcha, and security plugins, and let me know if it helps?

    Thanks!

Do you use any other anti-spam or comment plugins like Bad Behavior on your site? If so, could you try to deactivate them and let me know if it helps?

    Thanks!

Just the akismet that I have had on from the beginning. No bad behaviour plugins. The simple comment system I had to add works well but of course doesn’t have all the other accoutrements of JetPack.

Could you go to Settings > General in your dashboard, and make sure that both the site address and WordPress address are set to the correct site URL ( http://www.janiscox.com/ )?

    Thread Starter janiscox

    (@janiscox)

Yes they are both set to http://www.janiscox.com

It seems you have managed to solve the issue on your end: I was able to leave a comment on your site a few minutes ago:

Could you let me know what was causing the issue?

    Thanks Jeremy,
My new email subscriptions wasn’t working so I dumped that one and looked back at my plugins again. And you know what – I found that Bad Behaviour one… YIKES – I dumped it quickly. Reinstalled Jetpack and everything is good – I think.

I had put on Luv, and got so many spam I put on bad behaviour and that was when everything went wonky. I took off Luv too.

Sorry I didn’t see it when you told me – I really looked but didn’t see it. And I don’t have that many plugins either.

    Thanks for your patience,
    Blessings,
    Janis
