Okay, I’m following that EXACTLY and it’s not changing anything. What’s up?

I do not wish to sound unkind but if it isnt working then you arent doing it right.

Kate, you have a style sheet embedded in your index, which to my untrained eye doesn’t seem to have any selectors that actually select any comments related stuff.
Additionally, you also have a wp-layout.css which is not linked to your index at all, so changing stuff in there won’t affect anything at all.
Moose’s annotated CSS might help: http://blog.nuclearmoose.ca/wp-docs/wp-layout-explained.htm

I have the same problem with the comments disappearing when I go an entry back. It SUCKS!

Katie – we will help !
The normal behaviour of wordpress is that when a post is looked at individually, the comments are displayed as part of that page.
If many posts are viewed, then a popup window can be chosen instead.
It’s not possible to have popup comments when viewing an old post on it’s own.
Are you trying to get the style in your popup window to be the same as that on your main page ?

Looking again, the CSS you have – which seems to work well on the main page – does not contain the information needed to style the comments page, which is why the comments popup looks like it does.
    Those tags will need adding.
It’s not difficult as most of it can be copied from what you already have, but it needs to be defined differently.
