  • My site is set to not require that comments be approved before they post, yet I’m still getting approval requests via email and the comments are sitting in my queue waiting to be approved. I tried checking and unchecking the box…all that. Any ideas?

There are a few more reasons why comments might get put in the “moderation queue” even though you have moderation off.
    1) the number of hyperlinks in the comment exceeded your set limit. a large number of links is a characteristic of spam, so this setting can help control spam. Set this setting much higher to keep comments with many links from being caught.
    2) you have a spam blacklist word that is too generic (or, if it is catching EVERY comment, you have a “blank line” in your spam blacklist, so every comment triggers that “blank word.”
    Hope that helps.

Correction…the moderation requests are being sent to the same address, but I’m still baffled as to why I’m getting all of the comment requests.
I did a test comment a couple minutes ago that said simply, “Test comment” and it came straight to me for approval. No links, no objectionable anything.

    What version of WP?

similar issues i faced in certain nightlies prior to 1.2… so if u are in the final 1.2, this should technically not happen.

I assume I’m in the final 1.2 It says WordPress 1.2 and I just got it last Thursday.

So, am I just stuck with this?

i deleted my spam list and it solved the problem. i will just monitor comments and build the spam list up from there.

I’m having this problem too, no links or spaces in the spam list to cause problems, and I’m running version 1.2.

    Anon, try upgrading to v1.2.1.
