• I am not a WordPress.org user (I am on WordPress.com), but I have been attempting to comment on a WordPress.org blog for some time–to no avail. When I click “Comment,” it asks me to sign in. I tried my WordPress.com password and username, which didn’t work. So I went to the WordPress.org site and registered there. Still can’t post (says my username and password is invalid). Where do I register to make comments on posts on WordPress.org blogs?

(The site is http://pattricejones.info/blog/–sign in page has a WordPress logo; that’s why I assume it’s a WordPress blog)

  • Hi

No, what you are thinking is incorrect. What you are calling wordpress.org does not work at all like wordpress.com. There is no centralized server or connection between different blogs using the WordPress software. Each such blog has its own installation of the WordPress software on its own hosting account. And each has its own registered users. Since you have never registered on that blog, no other WordPress login is going to work on that site – you have to register on that site. And that registration will only work on that one WordPress blog. Any more than your login at your online bank is going to work when logging into your phone company website. The only thing all those WordPress sites have in common is they are running their sites with the same software package.
