• Right now I’m using Anti-spam image http://www.infor96.com/~nio/archives/369 which makes users type in a code to submit a comment AND I moderate all comments. So, although I’ve been getting 10-20 spams a day, I’m able to delete them all in my admin screen.

    My questions are:
    1. Can I continue using this plugin AND start using Akismet?
    2. Is there a benefit to using both plugins?

    Thanks for any input! Peace.

  • You can in general use multiple anti-spam plugins at once. Many of them use different techniques, so in certain cases you might find one plugs holes in another.

Akismet should catch a lot of what you are seeing. If you’re using an image-test procedure, and getting lots of spam anyway, you may find you can get rid of it (or replace it with something else better/newer) in combination with Akismet. I hear people running Bad Behavior, Akismet, and SpamKarma 2 all in combination.

I’m using Spam Karma 2 and Akismet side-by-side and haven’t had any problems. However, Bad Behaviour has an unusual tendency to block me and folks I know (nothing bad on their systems, not using spiders, etc.), so I’ve avoided it.

You might as well try and see, as what happens with one blog isn’t necessarily going to happen with another. My trouble with BB, for example, could just be a freak accident and it could work miraculously for you.
