# Comment spam problems

 * Hello,
 * I’ve been dealing with an abnormal amount of spam for a long time. Akismet is
   catching them all fortunately and adding them to my spam queue.
 * I tried the reCAPTCHA plugin for wordpress, which allows me to require a captcha
   be typed in in order to make an anonymous comment, but for some reason I’m still
   getting spam. This apparently isn’t working.
 * Anyone have any advice for this? I don’t want to completely prevent unregistered
   users from commenting on my blog, but I need some preventative measures to prevent
   spammers from making comments as well.

 * In the Akismet options, you can set it to automatically delete spam comments 
   on posts over one month old. That really cut down on the number of spam comments
   I had to deal with.
