  • I have comment moderation on for everyone that comments.
    Is there a way to NOT be notified by email for the approval?

    You could set up the administrator’s e-mail account to delete those e-mails…

    Unless I’m missing something here, would you not just go into your Admin panel under OPTIONS > Discussion and UNCHECK the “Email me whenever” options?

    Alternatively, set up an email filter so that all mails from wordpress get shifted to their own folder ? Not a complete solution I know, but it saves cluttering your inbox.

    Nuclear, I have email me when ever someone comments, but it also emails me to approve said comments.
    I want the emailed comments, just not the approval ones anymore.
    (I figure I log in everyday, so I’ll see them anyway)

    I would also love this. I installed wp-blacklist to combat some comment spam-bot that is drilling my site, and it deletes the comments, but I am getting about 10 “needs moderation” emails an hour!

    Hi all,
    I was having the same problem. The setting “notify when a comment is approved or declined” should fix this but in my version this doesn’t seem to be used anywhere. The email notification if anyone posts is not used when a comment is in moderation so this setting won’t change that. In order for the setting “approved or declined” to work, try changing the following in wp-comments-post.php:
    line 157 (in my case)
    change:
    if (!$approved) {
    wp_notify_moderator($comment_ID);
    }
    to:
    if (!$approved && get_settings(‘moderation_notify’)) {
    wp_notify_moderator($comment_ID);
    }
    Hope this helps!
