Support » Fixing WordPress » Comment count remains even after all comments deleted via SQL

    I used the SQL command

    DELETE FROM wp_comments;

    to delete all comments from my friend’s blog (I’m helping her switch from Blogger to WordPress and have set up her new site in a database on my domain until we’re ready to launch).

    Though the comments have all been successfully deleted, if you view any of the posts, they still show the pre-deletion comment count (both on the site itself and in the Comments interface inside WordPress admin).

    How do I delete the comment count and start “fresh” with zero comments and zero showing for all comment counts?

    Thanks in advance for your help. I’m pulling my hair out.

    Here’s an example of a post that has no comments but is showing a comment count of 37. They’re all like this:
