Support » Fixing WordPress » Comment box not showing up or not obvious

  • Hi all,
I’m a self-hosted .org newbie, but so far I’ve been able to manage by myself, googling and using this forum, but I’m hitting a dead end.

One of my readers just posted a comment about a post on my blog’s FB page because she hadn’t been able to comment on the blog, so I went back to check…

There is NO WAY to comment, that I can see, on my homepage.
Then, when we go on single posts, I either have the regular comment box at the bottom, with 2 tabs (related posts and comments) at the top… or just the tabs, and then the comment box opens IF YOU CLICK THE COMMENTS TAB.

Even I, familiar with the web, would not have seen that, and probably wouldn’t have thought to click on it, other than to see other comments!

It’s really not obvious enough, and I don’t understand why the comment box isn’t always “open” and sometimes you have to click the “comments” tab.

I also would reallly want to have comment boxes or a link “comment” on my homepage, as it’s where most of my readers go.

I am using the Jetpack comments plugin.

Is it something in my code I could do, or is there a different plugin that would make it work?

  • It sounds like it could be an issue with the theme, but I haven’t used the Jetpack plugin so I’m not sure. Have you tried disabling the plugin to see if your comments show up properly without it? And make sure you have comments enabled on all of the posts/pages you want them on:

A link to the comments for each post from the home page/archives is also a theme thing. Some show it, some don’t.
