It looks to me like WordPress will be getting it’s own in house editor for posts and pages. A bare bones editor, but when all you do is post you don’t really need anything fancy.

But there are those who like fancy; me for one. With a bare bones editor for WordPress on the way is anybody thinking about plugins to add capability to the new editor, or editor plugins with expanded abilities. Among the editor plugins…

    tinyMCE
    CKeditor
    Zedity

    And plugins for

    Microsoft Word
    WordPerfect
    Nisus
    Mariner
    Penumbra

    Your thoughts?

Where are you getting that information from? There are no major editor changes in progress, WordPress will continue to use TinyMCE.

There are no implications, every single bit of WordPress development is handled publicly: https://make.wordpress.org/

WordPress will not be replacing TinyMCE any time soon. There are some visual design changes in the works, but there are no functional changes in progress or even planned.
