Support » Theme: Twenty Twenty-One » Column Layout for Homepage – Use Templates?

  • Hi,

I’m coming back to WordPress after a while doing other things. My question is on how to approach a design in case the best approach has changed for Twenty Twenty-One / WordPress 5.x.

We have a basic column-based layout for the homepage of the Desktop version of a site we’re building. It looks like this

In the past, I would have made a specific page template for that page then used CSS Media queries to modify for different screen sizes/mobile experience.

But Twenty Twenty-One seems so flexible, especially if you add plugins like Stackable, that I’m wondering if that approach isn’t “old school”.

So, could/should the homepage layout above be created in Twenty Twenty-One? Or should I create a page template for it?

PS – in case the image linked above disappears, the basic structure of the page is sidebar, then main area with a top row and a content row beneath it.
