Support » Plugin: TablePress » Column Filter by ‘Contains’ instead of ‘Equals’

  • Resolved claing

Does anyone know of a way to set the column filter extension to filter columns by ‘contains’ rather than ‘equals’? I have a large table with filters for frame size, some parts fit multiple frame sizes, therefore sometimes the frame size is a list.

For example, Let’s say I want to filter parts to fit Frame A. Since some parts fit multiple frames, my frame filter will list multiple options for Frame A – Frame A, Frame B – Frame A, Frame B, Frame C, etc.

In order to see all potentials for Frame A, I would need to chose all applicable filters – including the list form filters (which is cumbersome). Ideally, I’d like to be able to choose just the Frame A filter from the dropdown, but be presented with all column that contain ‘Frame A’. See linked page for an example.

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

From what I understand, you want to use an extra parameter for the ColumnFilterWidgets – that, admittedly, is not yet documented on the Extension’s web page:

    [table id=25 datatables_columnfilterwidgets=true datatables_columnfilterwidgets_separator=", " /]

That datatables_columnfilterwidgets_separator parameter defines the character string (, in this case) that separates the individual keywords in the same cell.

    Does that maybe help?

This is EXACTLY what we are looking for. At first I thought it may be removing items in the filter list after the ‘,’, but it is actually breaking out the listed items and displaying all items containing that filter in the table – Perfect!

Thank you for the slick plugin and solid support.
