# Colour discrepancy

 * When I view my blog posts (mainly in Firefox, but the issue also occurs to some
   extent in IE) the colour photographs appear washed out and yet, if I click the
   image to open it as a standalone picture, the colours are perfect. Does anyone
   know why this might happen? If it was a colour profile error then surely it would
   apply to the image in the blog _and_ the larger version too?

   GD Library PHP module.

 * I’ve been in touch with them and they have responded “GD Version bundled (2.0.34
   compatible)”. Doesn’t mean much to me to be honest 🙁

   if I have FTP access to my server?

 * The version of GD Library (2.3.9) that I have is bundled with PHP 5.3. You could
   ask them to upgrade your server.

 * From what I’ve read online this PHP module creates the thumbnails for my post,
   which is why the full-size versions are unaffected. If I therefore resize my 
   images to 600px wide (the size of my theme) before uploading them then will that
   alleviate the issue?

 * It would help if you stuck to full size images that would fit your current theme’s
   layout (eg 600px) yes.

 * Just so you know. Firstly, my web hosts have said they are going to update my
   PHP in the next couple of weeks. And secondly, I;ve experimented and resized 
   to 600px prior to upload and it works perfectly!
