Support » Fixing WordPress » Color picker is gone

  • So after the 4.9 update, whenever I go into Customize, the color picker doesn’t get displayed. I also use the SiteOrigin pagebuilder and again, there the color picker in their widgets is gone.
    When I inspect the Customize page, I can see that the div with the color picker gets an element style with display:none. I have no idea where that comes from, but is there any way for me to overwrite that style perhaps by writing code in the functions.php or css of my theme?

  • You should ask the theme’s developers what can be customized. Without a link to your site, there is nothing more i can do.

    I notice the exact same issue. I have no idea where display:none is coming from. Overall the color picker behavior seems completely broken in both themes and plugins.

    I’ve come up with some CSS which overrides display:none on the customizer color pickers. I am not sure if display:none is an error, or if this is the intended behavior. This CSS should do the job for now. Add this to one of your CSS files and enqueue the file in functions.php and you should be good to go.

    * WordPress 4.9
    * Override: display:none for color pickers;

    .wp-picker-container > .wp-color-result{
    display: inline-block;
    height: 22px;
    min-width: 32px;
    border: 1px #ccc solid;

    .wp-color-picker {
    display: inline !important;

    .wp-picker-default {
    display: inline !important;
    float: right;
    margin: 0;
