  • Since I am OCD and I care about what the text looks like … I changed all of the text to make it appear as UGF on my site where the collapsable comments should be. I hope you can figure out what I changed by looking at the site. If not I would be more than willing to change it back. I am monitoring my email constantly for a response haha

    I tried putting the code in my .css to remove the arrow but I was unsuccessful. I don’t have much knowledge with code but I have been able to build from the little I know through research . I can’t figure this one out. Where am I supposed to pate the code? I search the .css for ‘comment’ and posted it above that with no results. Code is pasted below.

    #commentCollapse.collapseomatic {
    	background: none !important;
    	color: #852D2B;
    }

    Roll back to version 1.4.9 Your site has an issue with livequery. We are working on figuring out what causes this and will issue a fix in the next release. In the mean time, use version 1.4.9.

    Now wash your hands, turn the door handle 3 times… better wash your hands again, the door handle might have germs!

    Thank you for the quick response. I will attempt this fix later today when I get some time and get back with you.

    I went ahead and deleted the earlier version and replaced it with 1.4.9 as requested. This seems to have fixed half of the problem.

    Now when I click ‘Leave A Comment’ it changes to ‘Collapse’ but no comment form appears in the intended area. Suggestions?

    can you post exactly how you are using the shortcode / roll-your-own method in your theme? It seems you are using force_content_collapse… try removing that.

    I posted the code from this page: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-jquery-collapse-o-matic-roll-your-own-elements-ideas?replies=45

    Code straight from my single.php file —

    <span id="commentCollapse" class="collapseomatic">
    				<?php
    				if ( comments_open() ) :
    				  comments_popup_link('Leave a comment ↓', '1 comment ↓', '% comments ↓');
    				endif;
    				?>
    				</span>
    				<span id="swap-commentCollapse" class="collapseomatic" style="display: none;">Collapse ↑</span>
    				<?php edit_post_link('Edit →', '| ', '' ); ?></p>

    				<div class="content_collapse_wrapper"><div id="target-commentCollapse" class="collapseomatic_content force_content_collapse">
    				<?php comments_template( '', true ); ?>
    				</div></div>

    Eventually I will replace the text with an image and have them click the image to expand the comment form and comments … but I want to get it functioning first.

    I will search for force_content_collapse and make some adjustments to see what happens. Let ne know what you see in the code.

    I have removed the suggested code force_content_collapse – it was located on the third line from the last of the code pasted above. The comment form is still not showing up.

    Ok, we’ll post code that works. Please stand by.
    Here it is:

    <span id="commentCollapse" class="collapseomatic noarrow">
    <?php
    	if ( comments_open() ) :
    		comments_popup_link('Leave a comment ↓', '1 comment ↓', '% comments ↓');
    	endif;
    ?>
    </span>
    <span id="swap-commentCollapse" style="display: none;">Collapse ↑</span>
    <div id="target-commentCollapse" class="collapseomatic_content">
    	<?php comments_template( '', true ); ?>
    </div>

    And a demo: http://spacedonkey.de/646/collapse-o-matic-highlander-findme-test/

    Let us know if that works for you.

    That works! Thank you so much for your time, your effort and your great customer service. For future reference, what was the problem? I appreciate your help.

    Glad to hear the issue was resolved. It seems the code you where using was based on either a older version of the plugin… or it was just not correct.

    Either way, glad you got things working! Please vote for Pedro!

    Does this mean that I can upgrade to the latest version again? You had me roll back to 1.4.9 at one point and I am still using that.

    Yes, please give it a try… it should work for you. Regardless, please let us know of your results.

    Unfortunately when I upgrade to the most current version – no comments no longer appear. I will revert back to 1.4.9 for now but I thought you should be aware.

    Which version? the most current version on WordPress is 1.5.1 – this is not recommend for you. 1.5.2c is only available at the Plugin Oven for testing before we push it to the WordPress repo.

    I updated through WordPress the first time. I then went to Plugin Oven and downloaded your latest build (1.5.2c) but it was still causing problems. Once the link was clicked, nothing happend. No comment form showed up and no comments were displayed and the text link stayed the same.
