I was looking for the source code license for the samples on codex.wordpress.org. Is the source license CC0 licensed or GPLv2 or what license? Thank you!

For what purpose? If you’re submitting stuff to the WP repositories or using WP to create something, then it’s GPL.

If I read the codex correctly, your theme must be GPL. I am not a lawyer and this is a discussion that’s out of scope for here.
