Codex: Category-Slug.php Problem

  • I am currently working on the site: http://www.cheapsoccershoes.net
I am utilizing WP 2.8.4 and the StudioPress News Theme

I would like to have a different heading section to each category related to the brand. In following the Codex, I took the archive.php file and re-named it to “category-slug.php” so for instance, “category-adidas-soccer-shoes.php” and modified the file. The system did not pick it up. I tried it with various other categories with no success in this format.

When I renamed the same file to “category-1.php” the changes were displayed. While I guess I could use this format, it will definitely be harder in the future to quickly identify the category template file that I am changing by ID instead of slug. As a result, I would like to use the category-slug.php version.

Can anyone think of a reason this might happen?
