 * code view in the gutenberg editor is very narrow making it very difficult to 
   use, this needs to be addressed ASAP as I use a lot of custom objects that I 
   prefer to paste into articles instead of being coddled by some useless style 
   that is inconsistent with the way I have been doing things since the get go

    Thank you for bringing this up! Good news, I think…. [This has been fixed in 4.4.](https://make.wordpress.org/core/2018/11/15/whats-new-in-gutenberg-15th-november-2/).
   Would you mind give it another whirl and report back?
