Currently I’m using this plugin to show my cookies and to let vistors opt in or out: https://nl.wordpress.org/plugins/gdpr-cookie-compliance/

Functional cookies need to be accepted at all times (comments, spam), 3d party cookies can be placed in another section of the popup with cookie settings. This section offers the ability to add code to the header, body or footer of the website pages, when a visitor agrees to do so.

Instead of every plugin creating his own cookie consent etc message when a visitor visits a site for the first time, it would be great if plugins, such as Slimstat (which I’m using), would simply provide a kind of ‘activation’ code that could be placed in the header after people agreeing. That way the plugin would be activated in WP but only start to function after people agree.

    Wouldn’t this be possible?

    Hi,

This feature is indeed available starting with Slimstat 4.7.8. You can either use the built-in opt-in feature, which will allow users to accept or decline tracking, or you can configure it to use a third-party cookie to determine if a given user should be tracked or not. Is this what you have in mind?

I think so. But what if I have more plugins that need such an opt-in. Does this mean that all of these opt-ins are spread over the page until you have clicked them all? Is there a plugin that collects opt-ins? 😉

Like I said, you can configure Slimstat to use another plugin’s cookie 🙂 Not sure if other plugins are capable of doing the same, though.
