# Code error by novice

 * What can be done when a complete novice (idiot) screws up some of the code. I
   now get the error below and can’t revert to the original code. I was following
   instructions to load a new pluggin and added some code. It didn’t work so I deleted
   it and re updated the code page.
 * Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/jacquip1/public_html/WordPress/
   wp-content/themes/the_lake/core/sidebars.php on line 242
 * Didn’t think it would update the live site until I pushed publish but evidentally
   it does. Line 241 is the last line of code so 242 is an empty line. If that helps
 * Help please. Maybe the damaged code page will be useful

 * I can’t get back to the dash board. If I login as admin it takes me to the Syntax
   page error and I can’t get out.

 * Do you have access to an FTP client to re-upload the file? That would be the 
   easiest way to do that.

 * OK I think I do have an FTP client but where am I getting the file that I need
   to re-upload from ?

 * You can get the file to re-upload from the original download of the theme. It
   looks like your theme is the_lake, correct? I’m not sure where you downloaded
   it but you probably still have a copy in your Downloads folder or, if you don’t,
   you can download the theme from wherever you downloaded it the first time.
 * Did you have a link to your site?
