CMS post export to live website

  • We are a small newspaper using WordPress on a Local MAMP install, using it to manage and export post text for our indesign pages.

We are currently migrating from Joomla to WordPress for our Website is there a way of easily exporting posts from our local install to our website install

ie. pressing a button in the edit post screen to do this?
We currently use ‘Export to Indesign’ plugin, we were think along the lines of an ‘Export to website’ option would be great for the newsroom.

I know there is and Export posts option built in to WordPress but looking for something as easy to use as possible.

    Any ideas out there?

I don’t know how well it would work, but you could try using the Press-This tool from your website. Users would select content from the local site’s front end then click the provided bookmarklet. (Which everyone would have to drag to their bookmarks one time) The content is sent to wp-admin/press-this.php on the website. A edit post window opens with the selected content inserted.

The php file does some clever guessing about how to use the information it gets which would not work for your use. You can easily hack a copy of this file, save it somewhere safe, and edit the bookmarklet accordingly.
