Support » Plugin: Cloudinary – Image and Video Optimization, Manipulation, and Delivery » Cloudinary adds 550KB of JS to our site

After adding the Cloudinary plugin to optimize my images, I instead end up serving even more bytes per request due to:

    • cloudinary-core-shrinkwrap.min.js – 24.2kB Brotli compressed – 102kB decoded
    • cld-video-player.min.js – 410kB Brotli compressed – 1.8MB decoded
    • product-gallery.cloudinary.com/all.js – 116kB gzip compressed – 430kB decoded

I have no intention of using Cloudinary video player or Cloudinary product gallery on my site. And even the core-shrinkwrap seems excessively large for what I expect it to do.

I had hoped that using Cloudinary to optimize images I might push my mobile PageSpeed Insights score up from 88 to 90+. But instead it has dropped to 71.

Is there any way to configure this plugin for a more optimized implementation?

I am an advanced PHP developer with a custom-built theme. If the only current way of addressing this is through hooks and filters that would be OK with me.

    Hi @kevinatelement,

    Thanks for reaching out.

This is a known issue of our current plugin and we are preparing the release of the version 2.7.0 that will mitigate the issue in order to not load JS and CSS files that you won’t use.

The release should happen really soon, I’ll get back to you when I have the specific date.

    Hope that makes sense.

    Hi @kevinatelement,

We have just released the version 2.7.1 that removes all the scripts if you don’t use the widgets.

    Hope that helps.
    Best,
    Loic
