Is there a setting or ability for a user to close the live chat pop-up window? Is there an “X” that we can put in the corner so that the user can close it and not have the pop-up box take up so much of the screen space?

I did find in the CSS that there is an i id=”wp-live-chat-close” that is set to display: none, but if I change this to display: initial, this still doesn’t link the “X” to an action that can close the pop-up.

Do you have any suggestions on how to proceed?

  • Hi @logicsolutions,

Thank you for getting in touch, we do appreciate your time.

When using the modern chat box theme, the close button is seen within the chat bubble. However, I believe you may have enabled the auto-popup functionality, is that correct?

This option can be disabled to allow the user to open the chat manually instead.

Unfortunately, the element you have mentioned is no longer in use as the system now makes use of alternate close buttons.

    I hope this helps?

Yes, we have enabled the auto-popup functionality. Are you saying that if we have the auto-popup functionality, there is no way for the user to manually close the window?

Even if I turn off the auto-popup functionality and manually open the chat window, there still isn’t a “close” option unless I leave the page the chat window is on. This isn’t an ideal design or user experience for my users because the chat window takes up a large amount of on-screen real estate space.

What are the alternate close button options?

    Hi @logicsolutions,

Thank you for getting back to me and my apologies for the misunderstanding.

The button used to open the chat box is also the button used to close the chat. Meaning it acts as a ‘toggle’ to open/close the chat depending on the state the chat is in currently.

The auto-popup doesn’t influence this button from working. With that said, there is, unfortunately, no alternative to this at this point in time.

If you would like a close button added to your site in the top left corner as an example, we could assist you with this.

    Hi,
Please I need to Allow the live chat box to automatically pop up. How can do that please?
