# Close comments

 * Some posts have many comments, and I want to close these posts for future comments
   and start a newer post on the subject. But I don’t want to uncheck “allow comments,”
   because I want to leave the comments already on the old post.
 * How can I leave old commentss but close for future comments?

 * You can uncheck the box — the comments won’t be deleted and should still show
   up.

 * Thanks, HandySolo. That worked. Perhaps I’m mistaken, but I was thinking I had
   tried this in an older version of WP and it caused all comments (even the previous
   ones) to be hidden. Maybe not. Anyway it works find now. Thank you.

 * Some theme’s may do that (hide ’em when closed), I’d guess.
