Support » Installing WordPress » clone WP to a subdirectory (with subdomain)

  • Hi,
    I cloned my WP installation from to with subdomain -> Now the access to is redirected to and a upgrade is proposed and I can’t do anything else. I’m using WP 3.4.2 and I don’t want to upgrade now. Where can I correct the normal admin access (to Dashboard and so on)?

    The acccess to shows entry page correctly but any klick to navigation menu is redirected to I configured permalink to last option “name articles”. My .htaccess consists of:

    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

    I cloned the database by making a copy of my wp_-prefixed -tables in , the I changed the prefix using plugin “Change Table Prefix” to “abc_”. I copied the wordpress files from root / to my local PC and copied it back to the internet provider to /abc/ and adapted the prefix=”wp_” to “abc_” in /abc/wp-config.php. Then I imported my SQL-Copy of mysqladmin and I got back the wp_-prefixed tables. Now I have all tables cloned, with wp_ and abc_ as prefix. I opened table abc_options and changed siteurl to (or ) but it didn’t help.

    I’ve read postings that were found by google to topics like “wordpress move subdirectory subdomain” and so on for hours now and can’t find any further help.

    any ideas?

  • I found

    and I’ve done so. But there is not option to choose between subdomain and subdirectory !?!

    The result was a website without theme and theme error:

    filemtime() [function.filemtime]: stat failed for /layout.css in /www/htdocs/w00f7d09/wp-content/themes/thesis_185/lib/classes/head.php on line 209
     filemtime() [function.filemtime]: stat failed for /custom.css in /www/htdocs/w00f7d09/wp-content/themes/thesis_185/lib/classes/head.php on line 223

    BTW: Why I want to clone a WP installation? – I have 5 topics in my website and I want to make 5 landing pages with only 1 topic and 1 subdomain each.
