  • I am developing a site on MAMP, but when I sent the URL (http://localhost:8888/wordpress) to the client so that she can see the progress of the site, it only showed the raw HTML file.

I have spent the better part of today looking for a solution, and went into the /etc file and the httpd/conf file to make changes, but ended up not being able to access my site afterwards. Even though I went back and undid the changes I had made, I still cannot access my local site.

May I have help in restoring my site? And is it possible to configure the local host so that someone else can view it from their end?

  • Have you added style.css in wp-content/themes/themename because if there is no style.css file on that location wordpress will show only raw html no style will be shown by wordpress. and you edited httpd/conf file it is configuration file on server if you changed the directory then it will not show your site till you add the site on that directory instead htdocs.

The theme I was working is a premium theme so it does have the stylesheet style.css.

I didn’t change the directory of the httpd.conf file. I changed the info I needed to change, but then changed it back after I could not access the site on MAMP.
